Peter has extensive experience in the patient safety field and his work dovetails into the studies undertaken by APSF.
He is the Program Manager, AIHI, Faculty of Medicine at Macquarie University, having started his health career as a physiotherapist for 12 years.
Currently, he supports Chief Investigators to manage a $10.8 million grant researching translating safe care into practice.
Previously he was the Associate Director of Patient Safety at the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) in London, England where he led and managed clinical teams to reduce preventable patient harm in health care across England and Wales.
Peter has chaired the largest national incident response process in the world managing over 300 serious and death incidents per week.
He was also on the World Health Organisation’s development committee for the International Classification for Patient Safety.
He has extensive experience and ongoing interest in the analysis and sense-making of incident data and is working with Cardiff University analysing primary care and general practice incidents.
